STETSON - Gerald Button, 73, died Wednesday May 7, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 18, 1940, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the son of Dana and Blanche (Morris) Button.
Gerald graduated from Sioux Falls College and then served his country in the U.S. Army while being stationed in Panama. On June 17, 1967 he married Patricia Miller with whom he would share forty-six years of marriage. Gerald taught at John Bapst and then continued his career at Brewer High School, and retired after thirty years of dedicated service to his students. Gerald also worked for many years as an Immigration Officer for Bangor International Airport. He created Junior Exhibition at Brewer High School and wrote many articles for the Bangor Daily News. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as sitting on the lawn mower cutting grass and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of Stetson, a daughter Lisa (Button) Pelkey and her husband Ronald of Stetson, a son Christopher Button and his wife Georgette of Orono, two grandsons, Bradley and Brandon Pelkey of Stetson, a step-grandson Patrick Davis of California, a step great grandson Jason S. Davis II of Orono. He also leaves behind a brother Ron Button and his family of South Dakota, and a brother-in-law, Jim Hennecker. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Doris (Button) Hennecker, a brother Keith Button, and a step-grandson Jason S. Davis, and his husky Lakota.
