- Georgeann (Wright) Austin Leighton, 91, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 4, 2017. Georgeann was born in Lubec, on January 28, 1926, to George and Sarah Wright. She lived in Stetson as a child and in Exeter for most of her adult life. Georgeann was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted son, Elliotte Austin and his wife, Linda, and Linda's mother, Marion Kennedy all of Exeter; her granddaughter, Charleen Austin Imhoff and her husband, Java, and their son, Nathan all of Wells; her son, John Austin and his wife, Suzie, and their daughter, Elizabeth all of Corinna; her beloved granddaughter, Diane Iverson and her husband, Mike, and their daughter, Ashley all of Mt. Vernon, MO; and her beloved granddaughter, Denyse Weaver and her daughters, Lauren and Erin Weaver all of Carthage, MO. Georgeann was predeceased by Forrest Austin, her husband of 38 years, and father of Elliotte and John Austin; and her second husband of 12 years, Robert Leighton.
Georgeann was able to remain in her home, as she wished, until the last four days of her life, thanks to the continuous and loving care given to her by Elliotte, Linda, and Charleen. Our family would like to recognize and thank all those loving family members and friends who helped care for Georgeann, and particularly our dear and devoted friend, Paula Pierce, who assisted Georgeann on a daily basis, granting her the ability to maintain her independence and quality of life in her own home. We would also like to recognize Paula's husband, Mike Peirce, as well as Mark Peirce and Jerry Brayson for their dedication and friendship over the years.
As per Georgeann's wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, our family asks that you do a kindness for someone who may need assistance or comfort, or make a charitable donation in her name.
