George's Story

HAMPDEN - On Thursday May 21, 2015 our family lost a beautiful soul and a truly kind and gentle man. Tony Madore passed away at the young age of 47, at his home in Hampden, Maine. He was a giving, tender human being, who would do anything for anyone at any time, and his untimely death leaves a great hole to fill in the lives of many who knew and loved him. He will be sorely missed, and his potential never realized. God has taken a soul, but not a spirit, and not the memories that his family and friends will keep in their hearts and minds forever. His humor, smile, and the gleam that was deep in his eyes touched everyone who knew him. We will all miss him deeply, and feel the pain of his early departure from all our lives.

Tony enjoyed working with everyone at Captain Nick's in Bangor for the last 11 years.

Tony was born on February 22, 1968, the son of Richard and Catherine (McGowan) Madore. Catherine passed away when Tony was a year old. He thought of his mother often and she would have been proud of him. When Tony was younger he enjoyed visiting his grandparents Harry & Myrtle McGowan, his Aunts Delores McGowan, and Helen (McGowan) Leavitt and their families. He was a sensitive and caring.

Tony is survived by his father and step-mother, Richard and Marie Madore of Millinocket, Brothers Richard (Curly) Madore and his wife, Shirley and daughters Kayla and Emily Madore of Skowhegan, Gregory Hawksley and Fiancé Gina Deschene and daughters Cass Hawksley Bowen and Alasha Hawksley of Millinocket, and his Sister Jodi Hawksley-Healey and her fiancé Louis Ouellette Jr and daughter Jade Healey of Medway, three uncles Dana and his wife Jean, of Millinocket, Robert Sr. and his wife Zelda of Washington St., Gilman (Babe) Madore of Millinocket, He is also survived by numerous cousins, and special friends Rob and Darlene Rosebush of Hampden, and his loving pet cat.

He was also predeceased by his Grandparents Harry & Myrtle McGowan, Uncles James McGowan, Harry McGowan, Jr., Aunts Helen (McGowan) Leavitt, Delores McGowan and a special cousin, who he loved dearly, Michael Smart, plus several uncles, aunts and cousins.

A grave side service will be held at the Millinocket Cemetery Friday May 29, 2015 at 1:00, and a gathering for family and friends will be held after the service at the Millinocket American Legion Hall.
