- George Jandreau passed away peacefully October 23, 2016, at a Caribou Healthcare Facility surrounded by family. He was born on January 24, 1927, in St. Francis, the son of the late Edward and Celina (Pelletier) Jandreau. On November 7, 1950, he married the love of his life, Odette (Thibodeau) Jandreau.
George was a Veteran of WWII in the United States Army and was stationed in Guam. He was a member of the American Legion both in St. Francis and in Caribou also was a parishioner of the Parish of the Precious Blood in Caribou.
George was an avid outdoorsman and spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved spending time with his family and rarely passed up the opportunity to cook a big meal and gather everyone at the table.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his daughter and three sons: Bonnie and her husband, Gervais Theriault, of Cross Lake, Larry Jandreau and his wife, Jenny, of St. Francis, Lonnie Jandreau and his wife, Janet, of Ashland, and John Jandreau and his wife, Patty, of Washburn. Pepere was loved and adored by his grandchildren: Corey and Audrey Theriault, Becky and Jeremy Caron, Carrie and Ryan St. Peter, James and Robin Jandreau, Jared and Jessica Jandreau, Eddie and Michelle Jandreau, Kelsey and Shane Ireland, and 11 special great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 sisters, Violet, Rita and Lorraine; 4 brothers, Alberie, Omer, Joseph, Albert, and Alva.
George has left us a legacy of fond and cherished memories that will live on forever in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched. The family would also like to express gratitude to Dr. Claude Boma for his guidance and support, as well as the staff of the Maine Veteran's Home in Caribou for their special care to George.
There will be no services at this time pursuant to the request of George and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Maine Veterans Home, 163 Van Buren Rd., Caribou, ME 04736.
