Genevieve's Story

Brewer - Genevieve (Jameson) Watts Butler, age 94, passed away March 25, 2017. She was born in Pittston, ME, on April 1, 1922, to Louena Jameson of Appleton, ME, and Clarence Jameson of Orrington, ME. She attended Liberty School and Appleton High School.
She was known as Genny to all that knew her. She married Francis Watts at the age of 16. The had six children. The lived on a farm in Washington, ME. They made their living raising vegetables and potatoes, living off the land, also pulpwood logging and Christmas tree harvesting, done by them and their children.
Genny was busy with six children, but also very talented and creative. She sewed, knitted, and made her own dairy products or buttermilk, butter, ice cream, home made cakes, and other baked goods to sell at Rockland stores. She also canned vegetables and fruit she grew.
Later Genny became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at various nursing homes and retired from Bangor Mental Health. She enjoyed her dogs and other animals. Genny was self-taught in many musical instruments, including the accordion and had a passion for shoes and jewelry, also country music and dancing.
The family would like to thank Brewer Health Center for Health and Rehab for the wonderful and loving care of Genny over the last six years. Also special thanks to grandson Rick Hilt who stayed with Genny the last ten days before she passed.
She is survived by three of her children, Lorraine Hilt of Waldoboro, Joni Williamson of Eddington, and Minot Watts and Sharon Gibbs of Brewer. Also by two daughters-in-law, Joanne Watts of Union and Brenda Watts of Florida. She leaves grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Genny was predeceased by two husbands, and three sons, Edward, Vinal, and Ben Watts, and a grandson, Todd Watts.
She will be missed very much by all who knew and loved her; a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
