SOUTH GARDINER - Gary Paul Jordan, 72, of South Gardiner, Maine passed away May 26th 2016. He was born Sep. 20th, 1943 in Portland, Maine, the son of Olga B. (Chute) Gehrke and Paul G. Jordan.

Gary was a very loving man who touched many lives with his kind and generous soul and had a natural ability to instantly make friends with everyone he met.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Heather; son, Chris; grandson, Sam; aunts, cousins, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, their children, and an extended family of loving friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Jordan; his parents, Olga B. Gehrke, Betty A. Jordan (beloved step-mother), and Paul G. Jordan and Tricia's parents Donald and Ida Curtis.

Gary attended Portland, Gardiner, and MCI High Schools where he excelled at baseball and football. He trained as a hairdresser in Canada and had shops in Farmington and then Canaan, Maine. Gary later earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Maine system. He retired after more than 30 years as a special education teacher, director and consultant for the State of Maine. Gary's strength of character led him on many adventures. He pedaled his bicycle from Canaan, ME to P.E.I., Canada, towing his two children in a buggy. He and Tricia designed and built their own homes and sailed together from Maine to Florida and back. He found great joy in riding his Harley with a large group of friends he called his "peeps," and his cherished dog Harley strapped in right behind him. Other passions included carpentry, music, animals, sailing, and art. He found great joy in spending time and laughing with friends and family no matter the activity. Gary will be lovingly missed by all.
