KITTERY AND FORT KENT - Freda Lillian (Bernard) Marquis passed away peacefully December 12, 2015 at Durgin Pines in Kittery Maine surrounded by members of her family. Freda was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada on August 1, 1923 a daughter of late Edward and Jessie (Doten) Bernard. She was the eldest daughter of six children: Edward, Grace, Jeanette, Dorothy, and Ruth.

Freda was a natural story teller and family historian. She had a passion for music and played the piano, organ and guitar. She loved to knit creative items for family and friends.

Freda lived many years on the Canadian border where she raised seven children. She is survived by her son, Wilfred (Bill) Marquis of St. John Plantation, Me., Jessie and husband, Vincent King of Kittery, Maine, daughter Linda and husband Dale Jandreau of Lewiston, Maine, daughter Jackie and husband Pierre L'Italien of St. Pamphile, Canada, son Bruce Marquis of Township 15, Maine, daughter Judy and husband, Ben Nadeau of St. Sylvester, Canada, daughter Darlene and husband Andre Dube of St. Julie, Canada and sister Ruth Merritt of Wells, Maine in addition to 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren and 7 step grandchildren.

In her memory, in lieu of flowers, sing a song, strum a guitar, play a few notes on a piano, fill the birdfeeders, enjoy the birds, accept the squirrels, tell a funny story, knit or crochet something creative, have a good laugh and bring out the best in each other.

Friends may call May 7, 2016, Saturday from 9:30 am until time of service at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. Funeral Service will be held 11 am at the funeral home with the Rev. James Nadeau officiating. Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery.
