BELFAST - Frank Lewis Leonard, 91, died on May 9, 2015 in Belfast. He was born on March 7, 1924 in Milo, ME. He was the son of Leon Lewis and Mamie (Ayer) Leonard. He graduated from Bucksport High School in 1943. He joined the US Navy during WWII as a Corpsman on the USN Benevolence. From his hospital ship, Frank witnessed Japans surrender to Gen Douglass McArthur on the deck of the USS Missouri.
Frank was a member of the Felicity Masonic Lodge, Hancock Royal Arch Masons, Felicity Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Past Master Unit of Anah Shriners.
Frank is survived by his granddaughter Melissa Osato-Mensah and her husband, their three children Jacob, Isaiah and Alexa, all of West Virginia and his daughter-in-law Mary Leonard of Pembroke. Frank was predeceased by his two sons, Jeff and Colby and by his wife Margery.
Surely even now, Frank still has a pocket full of kisses for all his friends and staff at Harbor Hill Health Care.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 5-6pm until the time of the memorial service at 6:00pm Tuesday May 26, 2015 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home 28 Elm St. Bucksport.
