Florence's Story

GARLAND - Florence E. Turner, 88, the wife of the late Gerald E. Turner, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 31, 2015. She was born March 24, 1927 in Charleston, the daughter of Ralston and Nellie (Robbins) Strout.

She was a member of the Dexter Pentecostal Church. She worked in the shoe shop for ten years and with her husband, built and sold bird houses over a wide area for twenty five years.

She is survived by five sons, Eugene Turner and his wife, Sheila of LaGrange, Carl Turner and his wife, Jackie of Rochester, NH, Elwin Turner and his wife, Joyce of Vassalboro, Wayne Turner and his wife, Margie of Leesburg, FL and Earl Turner of WV; a daughter, Linda Crawford and her husband Tom of Garland; a sister, Thelma Ross of LaGrange, a close sister-in-law, Delores Strout of Presque Isle; 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Florence was predeceased by three brothers, Aubrey, Edgar and Leon Strout and a sister, Roberta Acor.

Friends may call at the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth from 1 PM Thursday, June 4, 2015 until time of services at 2 PM with Pastor Lyman Curtis II officiating. Burial will be in the Puddledock Cemetery, Charleston.
