EDMUNDS - Evelyn M. (Ward) Robinson passed away in her home surrounded by friends and family on August 8, 2015. Evelyn was born August 29, 1919 on Long Island, ME at the home of her mother's parents. The doctor arrived by ferry and delivered "a girl" Evelyn May, to her parents Chester and Georgia Lucinda "Lucy" (Horr) Ward.

They moved to Kennebunkport where he father worked as a carpenter. Later he developed a successful fish business there. Eventually they purchased land and a house in Falmouth, ME. Evelyn attended the local school and graduated in 1937 from Falmouth High. She continued her education at Gorham Teachers College where she met her future husband, G. Raymond "Ray" Robinson. They were married on June 20, 1942. Two weeks later Ray left for the armed services. Eventually he was stationed in Idaho where Evelyn and baby daughter joined him and also in Russell, KS where he was stationed until the conclusion of the war. After Ray finished college, Ray and Evelyn taught school in Eastport until they retired in 1975. They continued to operate Robinson's Cottages. Later they did extensive touring of the United States along with Evelyn's sister Lois who loved to drive and that was fine with them. After a few years they settled in Panama City Beach, FL during the winter months and their home in Edmunds during the summer. In later years they gave up traveling and remained at their home in Edmunds.

Evelyn was known for her coloratura soprano voice and had the lead in operettas while at Gorham. Later, she was often a soloist at church functions, weddings, and other special events.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 69 years Ray on February 8, 2012, and her great-granddaughter Kayla Evelyn Robinson on May 7, 2015.
