East Millinocket - Evelyn (Carlstrom) Lakeman age 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 3, 2018, at her beautiful home in East Millinocket.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and precious Nana to her four grandchildren. Evie was a faithful churchgoer, friend, community member, and loving home health caregiver to many in the Katahdin Region. Evelyn's caring personality, generous spirit, sense of adventure, and decorating flair was inspiring to all who knew her. She was dearly loved and will be never forgotten.
Evelyn was born February 4,1939 in Millinocket, daughter of Andrew and Marcella (Quinn) Carlstrom. One of seven children, she attended Millinocket schools and in 1958 married the love of her life, Gary Lakeman. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 13th.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents; brother, Charles; sister-in-law, Ellen; and in-laws, Lula and Willis Lakeman. She is survived by siblings and spouses, Everett (Ansel) Carlstrom, Mary and Eugene McLaughlin, Robert (TI) and Nancy Carlstrom of Millinocket, Francis( Ditz) and Arlene Carlstrom and Gerald (Jerry) and Donna Carlstrom of Bangor; her son, Gary (Opie) and Diana Lakeman of East Millinocket, daughters, Kelli and Mike Hurley of Bangor, Lynn and Rod Nicholson of Millinocket; grandchildren, Matthew Hurley of Astoria NY, Michael Nicholson and partner, Corey Colwill of Freeport, Brooke and husband, Brett Herring of Bangor, and Jenna Lakeman and her boyfriend, Parker Walker of Bangor; brothers and sisters-in-Law: Robert and Mae Lakeman of Brunswick, Tammy and David Madore of East Millinocket, Mickey Lakeman of Medway, and Marilyn and Chuck Cameron of Old Town; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and life long friends whom she cherished.
Services at Living Hope Church in East Millinocket on Saturday, December 8th. Friends may call 12-1. Celebration of Life at 1. Luncheon to follow.

So sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. I have such fond memories of her especially while we were all growing up together after moving into the neighborhood at the same time all those years ago. She made the best no bake chocolate cookies. She had a life well lived and now she can rest in “Heavenly Peace” as Griffin Madore so eloquently said.

Kelli, Lynn, Opie, and Gary, my heart is breaking with you.. What incredible friendships our families have shared over the years!!! I always felt that as long as Gary and Evelyn were here so were mom and dad. I’m so sorry I can’t be there to hug each of you but know that I love you all!!!
