Westfield and St. Francis - Evelyn Roselle (Caron) Trombley, 94, passed away September 14, 2016 at Southern Acres Residential Care Facility in Westfield, Maine. Evelyn was born April 5, 1922, in St. John, Maine, the daughter of Henry and Belle (Keaton) Caron.
Her two brothers, William and Melvin; and one sister, Gladys Caron Sturgeon, are all deceased. She married Lucien Joseph Trombley on July 20, 1940, in St. John. They lived in St. Francis, where they raised five children. She lost her beloved husband on August 9, 1981. As a part-time seamstress, Evelyn touched many people who came to appreciate her kind heart and warm character. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She crafted a patchwork quilt for each of her children and grandchildren that are treasured and admired for their individuality. She donated countless hours to knitting bonnets for babies in the hospital, quilts for seriously ill children, and mats for animals at the Humane Society. Evelyn especially loved reading and watching soap operas; however, she was happiest when she was with her children and their families.
Evelyn is survived by three sons, Harold and his wife, Adrienne, of Fort Fairfield, Alan and his wife, Mary, of Smith's Station, Alabama, and Raymond and his companion, Mary Alice, of Honolulu, HI; one daughter, Thelma and her husband, Richard Rand, of Presque Isle; a daughter-in-law, Ann Trombley of Florida; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a son, Melvin; and a great-granddaughter, Morgan Cowett.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis. Committal services will follow in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Funeral services are in the care of Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
