- Eva C. (Seekins) Lenfest, Born May 27, 1922, passed away of natural causes after a long and loving life surrounded by family and caregivers at Heritage Oaks, an assisted living home in Englewood, Fla. - She was born in Searsport, Maine, the daughter of George A. and Jessie (Tozier) Seekins of Searsport.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and home-maker and worked for several years at the Belfast Shoe Factory. She was an avid knitter, crafts-maker - knitting and making many gifts for friends and family members.
She was a caring and concerned friend of the numerous family members and friends she had made over the years. Amazingly, even at a later age, she was very independent was still driving herself and others to visit those less fortunate and to help out whenever/however, she could.
One of the miracles in her life was surviving the accidental submersion of her vehicle in Belfast Harbor on a wet and windy day, and being rescued by two hero dock workers, which, of course, put an end to her driving days.
Eva is survived by her son Burton Seekins of Searsport, Stepsons, John Lenfest Jr., Harold Lenfest, Step-daughter Joan McBrearty and her husband John, all at Englewood, Fla: Step-grandchildren Felecia Decarlie & husband Rick of Stafford Springs, their daughter Laura and her daughter Peyton Ray of Stafford Ct.; Michelle Bachand & husband Brian of Mystic, Ct.; Christine Howard & husband Jack of Pepperell, Mass.; Luke Lenfest & wife Brenda and children of West Hartford, Ct.; Marc Lenfest and 4 children of Glennville, N.Y. and Kim Grannon and children of Englewood, Fla. her sister-in-law Jenny & husband Warren of Hampden, Me., Sister-in-law Josephine (Parker) Seekins of Searsport, Me., several nieces and nephews including niece Joyce Seekins & husband Richard (Pa.) and her (may it be said) favorite niece Lucille (Seekins) Clements and husband Gorden of Prospect, Maine.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, John Lenfest Sr. her sister Elizabeth (Seekins) Howard and five brothers: Percy, Earle, Orin, Ralph, and Clyde Seekins.
Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Swanville in the spring.
