Old Town - Eugene Robert Spencer, 71, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 18, 2016. He was born August 4, 1945, in Bangor, a son of Charles and Evelyn Spencer.
He grew up in Veazie and attended local schools. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post75 of Old Town. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by three children Wyatt Spencer of Old Town, Stacy DeTour and her husband Chris of Bangor, and Stephanie Andel and her husband Bruce of FL; brother George Spencer and his wife Charlotte; three sisters Frances Lindquist, Alverda Wilson, and Janet Sleeper, sister-in-law Peggy Spencer, 8 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Charles Spencer.
A celebration of his life will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at American Legion Post 75, 20 Water Street, Old Town, where military funeral honors will be provided by the US Navy. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 75, House and Bereavement Fund, 20 Water St Old Town, ME 04468.
