- Eugene 'Gene' Arthur Lambert, 77, was born in Brewer, Maine, on Aug. 24, 1940, to Calvin Lambert Senior and Beatrice Peters. Gene was trimming palm trees at his retirement home in Frostproof, Florida, and after an unexpected fall, he passed away on Feb. 19, 2018. Gene worked at Volkswagen/Mazda in Ellsworth and retired as Service Manager in 2006. He continued to work for Darlings Auto for another ten years before retiring and becoming a permanent resident in Florida. Gene was trained in artillery/infantry and spent two years in the Army during Vietnam. Gene has been a member of the Eagles Auxiliary since 1980 and the American Legion.
The youngest of eight siblings, Gene was predeceased by his sisters, Mary (Aggie) Williams and Juanita McLaughlin; and his brothers, Calvin Lambert Jr., David (Bud) Lambert, Albert (Babe) Lambert, and Donald (Donnie) Lambert.
Gene is survived by the love his life and wife of 49 years, Beverly Kelley. He is also survived by his daughter, Billie Lambert, son, Alan Lambert, daughter, Tracey Camic, beloved grandson, Michael Moores, sister, Beatrice (Sis) Poliquin, and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gene will always be remembered for his avid love of the outdoors. He spent most of his life enjoying the company of family and friends in Maine camping, fishing, ice fishing, hunting, and boating. In 2008, Gene and Beverly started spending winters in Frostproof, Florida, where they enjoyed the weather and the many wonderful friends they met there. Kind and soft spoken, Gene enjoyed every minute of life and his loving personality enlarged his circle of friends wherever he worked and lived. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
