- Emily M. Braley, loving grandmother, mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at a Bangor Hospital on November 4, 2017 at the age of 76, surrounded by her family. She was born in Industry, Maine on January 24, 1941 to Lucille (Robbins) Newell and Lewis Newell.
Emily grew up in Newburgh and graduated from Hampden Academy and Eastern Maine General School of Nursing (EMMC). She began her career as a Registered Nurse at EMMC in the emergency department and then the operating room. She also served for many years with the Winterport Ambulance Service. She retired after 37 years at Bucksport Regional Health Center. She belonged to the Maine State Nurses Association. She was a former Rainbow girl and a member of Felicity Chapter #195 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with family, knitting, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.
She leaves two daughters, Heidi Pugliese and Michelle Braley, a son, Christopher Braley and his wife Shaylene and their sons Jordan, Noah and Caleb. She also leaves six sisters and brothers: Mary L. Morrison and partner Jim Nelson; Robert M. Newell and wife Miranda, Carol A. Potter and husband John M. Corrigan; Donald L. Newell and wife Patricia; David E. Newell and wife Linda; Rand E. Newell and wife Jolene, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Lucille and Lewis Newell.
A memorial service will be held at Rising Sun Lodge, 87 Lower Falls Road, Orland, ME on Sunday, November 19th at 2 pm. There will be a special service by members of the Order of the Eastern Star. The family requests no flowers.
