BANGOR - Elnora Bickford Curran Kingsbury, 90, of Bangor, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at a local health care facility, with her family at her side. She was born in Winterport on Oct. 4, 1924, the daughter of Walter H. and Agnes (Towers) Bickford.

She attended school in Winterport and graduated from Winterport High School in June 1942. She graduated from Eastern Maine General Hospital (now EMMC) School of Nursing in 1945. She worked as a RN until her marriage in 1947 and then continued working part time for several years in the Bangor area. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. John's Parish Council, Nurses Alumni Association, The American Red Cross and actively participated in her children's PTA.

Elnora married Richard H. Curran, who predeceased her in March 1978, and together they raised eight children. She married Stewart H. Kingsbury in January 1982, who predeceased her in May 2014. They spent many winters in Lakeland, FL, where they developed some lifelong friendships. Nana loved her family beyond words and her greatest joy came from spending time with them. She loved hearing from her grandchildren whether it was from a visit, a call or a card sent to her. When her son Bill arrived home from Michigan, her family was all together which was her final wish.

She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia and Robert DeAvila of E. Bridgewater, MA, Janet and Robert Morse of Bangor, and Mary Ellen and Mark Blaisdell of Hampden; and five sons, Michael A. Curran of Brewer, Richard H. Curran of Brewer, William J. and Jo-Lyn Curran of Grand Haven, MI, and Hampden, ME, Dennis W. Curran and partner, Lynne Leathers, of Brewer and Timothy L. Curran of Brewer. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Courtney, Lindsay and Shelby, Bryan and Matthew, Erica, Christopher and Meghan, Jason, Alex and Ben, Jedd and Chelsea, Taylor and Mallory, Shawn and Shannon; and was a Great Nana to 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Ralph and Dorothy Bickford of Newburgh; a sister, Ava L. Weaver of Bangor; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Margie Alberts. She was predeceased by a sister, Alice Bickford, in 2007.

Don't weep for me when I am gone, be glad for me, rejoice. For I am with my maker now, there is no better choice. So gather round me loved ones, pay heed to what I say. Although you cannot see me, I'll not be far away. Be good to one another, be all that you can be. Some day when your times comes, then again you'll be with me. I'll be watching over you from heaven up above, so don't remember me with tears, remember me with love.
