Ellwood's Story

DANFORTH - Ellwood L. Allen, 86, went to meet his Lord and Savior May 22, 2015, at his Danforth home. He was born May 5, 1929, in Danforth, to Guy and Vallie Allen.

He was a Korean War veteran, worked in the woods, retired from the railroad then went back to the woods until injured. He then went to work at the town landfill where he made many friends and held many conversations. He was active in his church, legion and grange until unable to go.

He is survived by sister, Reta and brothers, Gerald Allen and Kenny Carr, his part time roommate Jonas Bowman Ellingwood, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by parents, Guy and Vallie Allen, sisters Carolyn and Joyce; sister-in-law Jackie and brother-in-law Guy.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday May 28 at Danforth Pentecostal Church with the Rev Bob Root and the Rev Dave Dickson officiating. Lunch will be offered at the Danforth Fire Station. Family requests donations in lieu of flowers to help with his final ride home, 12 Maple Street, Danforth, ME 04424.
