ELLSWORTH - It is with great sadness that the sons of Elizabeth (Moran) Austin (Betty), announce her passing on May 9, 2015. A devout Catholic, she was with her sons and daughter-in-laws as she went to be with her Lord. Betty was born August 11, 1931 in Bar Harbor, the daughter of John and Alta Moran. Betty was the wife of William M. Austin.

Betty grew up in Bar Harbor with her siblings, Louise, Jack, Freddie and Bobby. She had many happy memories of her childhood that she loved to share with her children and grandchildren.

Betty worked for many years at the Brookside Restaurant, where she made many lifelong friends. Betty's first priority was her family. She loved spending time with them all, birthdays, holidays and watching her grandchildren play sports. Her and Bill loved taking rides, sometimes stopping for a picnic lunch. Betty was an animal lover, who at one time, in addition to her many cats and dogs, had a pet raccoon and squirrel.

Betty is survived by her husband, Bill of 66 years; her son Jack Austin and his wife, Debbie of Stockton Springs; her son Tom Austin and his wife Darleen of Veazie; grandchildren, Dawn Raybourn & husband Dustan of Ellsworth, Greg Austin of Stockton Springs, Mike Austin of Benson, Arizona, Christine Mahon of Seattle, Washington, Billie Austin & husband Daniel Rydh of Los Angeles, California, Chloe Austin of Portland and Emily Brown & fiancé, Justin Davis of Belfast. Great grandchildren, Jennifer Gray & her husband Richard, Taylor Cousins & her fiancé, Adam Kaspala, Katie Mahon, MacKenzie Austin and Brielle Austin. And 1 Great Great granddaughter Kinley Gray.

Betty leaves sister-in-laws, Louise Sealy & her husband George and Bette Austin all of Ellsworth. She leaves many nieces and nephews. She also leaves very good friends, Betty Robidoux of Ellsworth and Debbie Ostrovsky of Mt. Kisco, NY.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, siblings, her brother-in-law, Dana Austin and her beloved son, Jim Austin in 2010.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Courtland Living Center for their loving care the past 3 years and for the care and comfort that was given to Betty and her family during her final journey.

Per Betty's request there will be a private celebration of life. Any donations in Betty's memory can be made to SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Rd., Trenton, ME.
