- W. Earl Chandler passed away peacefully on May 15, 2017, at Harbor Hill, Belfast, ME, after a brief illness. He was born the son of S. Everett Chandler and Mary (Duncan) Chandler on August 29, 1929.
Earl grew up in Bucksport, graduating with Bucksport High School Class of 1947. Soon after, Earl and Lorraine (his wife of 65 years) moved to Orland where they resided for the rest of their lives, as well as spending many winters in Florida during retirement.
It was obvious early in his life that he had a genuine interest and talent for building. He began building boats and cabinets in the barn but soon realized that there was a need for "The Cabinet Shop." And there he spent most of his life doing what he loved... building boats, furniture, cabinets, and houses. In his free time he also enjoyed snowmobiling, canoeing, boating, flying, and traveling with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Bill and Donna Chandler, Carol and Dan Lowell, Donnie and Brenda Chandler, and Brian Chandler. His grandchildren, Mark Chandler, Travis Chandler, Jason Lowell, Ryan Lowell, Amy Jackson, Donnie Chandler, Nathan Chandler, Sonja Chandler, Jordan Chandler, Ashlee Elmore, Nick Chandler, and Olivia Chandler. His brother Smally and Diane Chandler. And his sisters-in-law, Lois Andrews, Jackie Andrews, and Rosalie Gray.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Jeffrey, his wife Lorraine, and his sister Betty.
A memorial service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Bucksport will be held at a later date.
A special thank-you to Harbor Hill for the wonderful care Earl received.
