- Dora Audrey Longley, age 89, of Brunswick, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Dionne Commons. She was born in Chapman, March 20, 1928, the daughter of David and Alvada (Briggs) Tingley.
Dora married Fred Longley on January 1, 1953, in Castle Hill. After more than 25 years in the Navy, Fred and Dora settled in Brunswick, to raise their family, Eric and Iris.
Dora loved working with kids from her days as a Teachers Aide at William-Cone School, to MDA and youth bowling at Yankee Lanes in Brunswick. She was a coach, leader, friend and to many, a mother and grandmother to her many youth bowlers.
In her retirement years, she enjoyed weekly get-togethers for breakfast at Kopper Kettle.
She also enjoyed many hours of playing Beano at fairs, the Elks, the Evergreens and wherever and whenever she could.
She is predeceased by her husband, who died July 20, 1989.
She is survived by her daughter, Iris A. (Longley) Bowden of N. Conway, NH; her son, Eric Longley and his wife, Pat of Brunswick; grandchildren, Jared Bowden, Darryl Longley and his wife, Lauren, Jamye Longley; and many nieces, nephews and friends throughout Maine.
The family would like to give a special 'shout out" to the nurses and staff at Dionne Commons, and special thanks to Big Ang, Kelly, Savannah and Stephanie.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4PM Sunday, December 10, at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. Services will be private. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
