- Donald H. 'Brownie' Brown, 82, passed away January 23, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, in a local health care facility. He was born June 28 1934, in Danforth, the son of Paul A. Brown and Lydia Doane.
Brownie worked 38 years for J.J. Nissen Bakery in Brewer until his retirement in 1994. He loved spending time in his wood shop, metal detecting, fishing, riding his lawn mower and eating at Nicky's restaurant.
In addition to his parents, Brownie was predeceased by his brother, Larry Brown. Surviving, in addition to his significant other, Geri Doucette and their dog, Sammy, are daughters, Kathie and her husband Alan, Cindy and her partner Christopher; a son, Steve and his wife Cheryl; his first wife, Barbara Brown; a granddaughter, Brianna; grandsons, Scott, Brad, Chris, Matt, Mike, and Jaylon; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Young, Elaine Briggs, and Pat Sibley; brothers, Nelson Brown, Paul Thibodeau, and Joseph Thibodeau; life-long friends, Francis (Dowd) Doughty, Del Mishio, and Dennis Frost. Brownie had a special relationship with Geri's children: daughter Robin and her husband Lance; her son, Paul and his wife Flora; and her grandchildren, Kyle, Skye, Eric, Paul, and Cotie.
The family would like to thank Westgate Manor in Bangor for their outstanding care of Brownie.
In keeping with Brownie's wishes, services will be private for the family.
