- David R. Scamman, 74, a humble servant of God, went to be with the Lord December 22, 2016, at his residence.
He was born November 15, 1942, in Portland, a son of Lucian and Belva (Bruce) Scamman. David served in the U. S. Air Force and graduated with high honors from the University of Southern Maine with a Degree in Engineering. He attended St. John's Seminary in Boston preparing for the diaconate and was ordained in 1988 in the Diocese of Boston. David briefly served as chaplain at Bridgewater, MA, State Prison.
He was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourde's Catholic Church in Skowhegan. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. David served as a deacon at St. Peter's in Plymouth, Mass, St. Agnes in Pittsfield, and at Notre Dame de Lourde's in Skowhegan. He will be remembered as an avid reader and had an interest in Ham Radios.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Valerie; 2 sons, Daniel and wife Karen and Kenneth and wife Melissa, all of St. Albans; a daughter Dawn and husband Paul Duquette of Plymouth, MA; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
There will be no services at this time. Graveside committal services will be held in the spring at St. Albans Village Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
