- Danny Lee Manchester, 55, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 14, 2017. He was born in Machias on March 25, 1962, to Norris and Norma (Watts) Manchester.
Danny lived a full life doing what he loved to do, which was working hard. He learned the trade of butchering at the Shop & Save and A&P in Machias and Eastport. He, and his wife and daughter ran Dan's Custom Cuts for several years processing farm animals and wild life. Being a farmer at heart, he changed his profession to a life on the ocean as a lobster fisherman naming his boat the "Floating Farmer". He also supplied firewood to many households in the area through his winter business "Manchester Firewood." For two terms, Danny worked extremely hard as a selectman for the Town of Machias.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 27 years Nancy J. Manchester; a daughter Kirby Marie Murphy and husband Mike and two grandsons Ryan "Freddy" and Carter; and a granddaughter Keagan Stevenson; his parents Norris and Norma Manchester; siblings - Jane Manchester of Topsham, Anita McCurdy and husband Arthur of Machias, Tim Manchester and wife Keegan of Mass, and Russell Manchester of Roque Bluffs; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Danny will be sadly missed by all who knew him especially his faithful companion Kujo, and loving friends Glenn Davis, and Ken and Lynn Kelley of St. Stephen, NB.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Robert and Lima Watts, and his paternal grandparents William and Mable Manchester.
A Memorial Celebration of Danny's life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday June 24, 2017, at Machias Christian Fellowship, 5 Davis Road, Machias, Maine.
