BURLINGTON - Daniel Lee Reed, Sr, from Burlington, ME passed away on November 21, 2014 at EMMC. Dan was 65 years old, born March 9, 1949 in Lincoln, ME.
Dan was predeceased by his father, Floyd James "Buddy" Reed, Jr. and his mother, Helen Reed-Dobson as well as his brother-in- laws Roger Olsen and Gary Cull and father-in-law Milton Bearce.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Teresa; three children, Lee Reed and wife Connie of Enfield, Bud Reed and wife Kim of Oklahoma City, and Ann-Marie Stenzel and husband David of Lincoln; 7 grandchildren, Buddy, Lora-Lee, Travis, Samantha, Marissa, Bryce, and Reed and one great-grandson Landon; 3 sisters, Della Day and husband Sheldon of Clearwater, FL., Dianne Olsen of Milford, and Faye McCormick and husband Web of Lincoln; mother-in-law Annie Bearce of Lincoln; sister-in-laws, Sandra Cox and husband Jim, Marie Beckett and husband Doug, Stephanie Cull, Lizza Clark and husband Jim; brother-in-law, Clarence Bearce and wife Melody; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Dan also had many dear friends whom he thought of as family.
Dan grew up on the Dodlin Road. He married the love of his life 46 years ago and together they created a beautiful family. He was a passionate man who lived a full life, was adventurous, eager to serve others, and loved by many. He spent years working on the bus ministry at Colonial Baptist Church in Stafford, VA, driving a church bus to bring local children to Sunday School. He joined the Christian Motorcyclists Association as a way to combine his love for biking with his love for the ministry of Christ. He was currently serving as president of the Riders for Christ Chapter 913. He served in the Air Force National Guard, Army National Guard, and Sea Bee Reserves. Dan worked for Cianbro Construction as a welder/pipe fitter and finished as a project superintendent. He had many hobbies including raising goats, working on his farm alongside his wife and grandchildren, playing bluegrass on his guitar, blacksmithing, and volunteering. He was a proud member of the "Zipper Club" and the "Straw Hat Club". He especially enjoyed visiting those sick or in the hospital. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those special friends who thought of him as family.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Maranatha Riverside Church in Lincoln, ME. In lieu of flowers, Dan would have liked donations to be made to either The Burlington Bible Church, P.O. Box 107, Burlington, ME 04417 or Christian Motorcyclists Association, P.O. Box 9, Hatfield, AR 71945.
