Bar Harbor - Clayton E. Gilley Sr., 84, died at home after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born March 31, 1932, in Otter Creek, the son of Earl Gilley and Viola (Osgood) Gilley.
Clayton lost his father to cancer at the age of 8 and dropped out of school to work to assist in the support of his family, and resided with family members both in Otter Creek and in Dedham Maine. Clayton entered the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and served in Post War Europe. After returning and working for several years Clayton met Theolyn Mitchell in the village of Bernard Maine and were married soon thereafter.
