Christopher M. Wheaton

Garden City, Mich., and Rockland Chris passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2018, at his home in Garden City. Chris was born in Rockland on Oct. 12, 1954, the son of Milton Wheaton and Marion Jane (Harvey) Wheaton.
He graduated from Rockland District High School in 1973. Chris Worked at Bath Iron Works for more than 15 years. At this time, he was married to Brenda Wyman, and they lived in Woolwich with their two girls, Kristin and JoAnna Wheaton.
Many years later he decided he would like to go to Florida, which he did with his now wife, Ida Lee "Sue" Wright. They went to St. Petersburg. He was hired at a ship building company that closed after two years. This company found Chris a job in Texas at Orange Shipbuilding Co. as a project manager.
When he decided to retire, he and Ida Lee "Sue" went to her hometown in Michigan, where he enjoyed being with Sue's relatives, especially Peter Cole and Sue's daughter, Kim and her husband, Wayne Cole.
Chris was predeceased by his father, Milton Wheaton, who passed away Nov. 22, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Ida Lee "Sue"; his mother, Marion Jane Wheaton; sister, Valerie Capone and her husband, Albert; two grandsons, Isak and Elijah; his stepdaughter, Kim and her son, Justin; and great-grandson, Evan. Chris has many nieces, nephews and cousins from Maine, California, Alabama and Florida.
Honoring Chris preference, there will be no services. A small gathering at the funeral home of Santeiu & Son was held for the Cole family and his two daughters, Kirstin and JoAnna, who came from Maine.
