Christopher's Story

Text size

Bangor - Christopher George Limberis, 68, husband of Nancy (Booker) Limberis, passed away on February 11, 2018, surrounded by family. He was born on September 26, 1949, in Bangor, son of the late George P. Limberis and Mary (Dunn) Limberis. He graduated from Bangor High School, Maine Central Institute, St. Michael's College in Vermont, and Delaware Law School. He was a member of the Maine Air National Guard. After earning his Law degree he returned to Bangor to join his father in forming Limberis & Limberis, P.A., enjoying a partnership that would last the rest of his father's life. He was an active member of his community and St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Family was the most important thing in the world to Chris and he made sure they always knew they were his priority. His love for his wife of 45 years and his three daughters was infinite and he showed it every day. He never missed a game, school play, chorus concert, or dance recital, and would rarely be seen without a camera and video camera, earning him the affectionate nickname, Clark Griswold. His love for his family grew exponentially through enjoying the lives of his seven grandchildren. This strong sense of family extended such that he had cousins he considered siblings, parents he called his best friends, and friends of his daughters he treated like they were his children.
Chris and his family were fortunate to spend 34 wonderful summers on Beech Hill Pond in Otis, Maine. Over the years hundreds of friends and family members knew they were welcome to come down to camp unannounced anytime where they'd be welcomed with a smile and plenty to eat and drink. He was in his happy place there, whether enjoying his coffee on a quiet, still morning or surrounded by music and laughter. Memories made there were enough to last five lifetimes and stories will live on as legend. To everyone who was fortunate to know him, he was a kind, generous, gentle, caring soul and all were better for having him in their lives.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Bangor; three daughters, Lisa Butler and her husband, Joel, of Holden, Sarah Cullen and her husband, Dave, of Norwood, Mass., and Katie Dacke and her husband, Roy, of St. Petersburg, FL; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Xavier, Mary Abigail, Olivia, Ella, Matthew, and Ava, as well as very special cousins. He was predeceased by his parents. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Lung Transplant Clinic at Brigham & Women's Hospital for their years of loving care.
Relatives and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a Trisagion service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb 17, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 90 Sanford St., Bangor, with Fr. Leo Schefe, presbyter, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
