- Charlene Celia Roberson, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 17, 1946 in Newport to Charles and Arla (Phillips) Roberson.
Charlene had a special love of animals and often said she liked her dogs more than most people. Over the years she had many animals, none was more special to her than her faithful dog Veddar who passed away a few years ago. He lived on in her heart and was probably the first to greet her on her journey. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bangor and greatly enjoyed working with her friend Barbara Brown in the Family History Center.
She is survived by her two children, Tracy Sutherland, and Darrell and wife Aimee Bryer. She was fondly known as "Nana Banana" to ten grandchildren, Tiffany, Erica, Damian, Andrew, Hillary, Kenyon, Ian, Kalyn, Alannah, and Corbin; ten great-grandchildren who knew her as "GG", TreVon, Lily, Ashleigh, Noela, Odynn, Clara, Boyd, Madelyn, Ashton, and Lucy; one sister and her husband, Thelma and Dean Huff; former husband Richard Heyer; former daughter-in-law Jill Hopkins, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charlene also made many online friends who referred to her by her screen name "Spidey".
At her request, there will be no services. Donations in her memory can be made to the Family History Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, mailed to 40 Boutelle Rd, Bangor, Maine 04401-5801. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com
