DEXTER - Carolyn A. Theriault, 73, passed away peacefully July 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, after a courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. She was born August 10, 1941 in Dexter, raised by her beloved grandparents, Emma and Franklin Clukey. She loved living on Maple Street her entire life.
Carolyn attended Dexter schools and graduated with the class of 1959. Carolyn married the love of her life, Philip Theriault, on June 17, 1961 in Dexter. She was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church and was a leader of the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She never missed a single sporting event that her children and grandchildren participated in and was their biggest cheerleader. Carolyn and Phil owned Gray Barn Antiques and enjoyed traveling and meeting dear friends along the way. Carolyn worked several jobs over her life, but only ones that allowed her to fulfill her most important role in this life as wife and mother. She thought of many of her children's friends as her very own. Her ability to share a good laugh, her love of fun, adventure, and quirky wise words of wisdom will be repeated over and over, with a smile. Carolyn will be missed by many. Phil says, "She was my best friend; She was my wife; She was my hero; She was my life".
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Philip H. Theriault; her daughters, Deborah Tibbetts and her partner David York of Dexter, and Susan and her husband Jeffrey Warren of Oakland and her five beloved grandchildren; Dylan Tibbetts of Gardiner, Dalton and Parker Tibbetts of Dexter, and Quinn and Emily Warren of Oakland and many friends and family. She was predeceased by her precious son, Christopher Philip Theriault, on March 27, 1986 and her sister, Anna.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 AM, Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter, with Fr. Mark Nolette, Celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
In lieu of flowers, Carolyn requested support of The Chris Theriault Memorial Scholarship Fund, a tribute that was so very important to her. Please make memorial gifts payable to Susan Warren, PO Box 112, Oakland, ME 04963.
