Bangor - Carolyn Washburn Alexander of Lincoln passed away on Oct. 9, 2017, at the age of 83, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Lincoln, ME, the daughter of the late Lewis L. and Hilda Libby Washburn.
She is survived by her sister, Audrey Moores of Rochester, NH; and a brother, David Washburn and wife, Charlene, of Lincoln; her four children, Callie Boyington and husband, Jeff, of Lee, Allan Alexander and wife, Alice, of Burlington, Kevin Alexander of Saco and Sandy Wilson and husband, Mike, of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren, Michael Rollins, Shawn Gordon and fiancee, Nancy, Heather Soucy and husband, Harry, Tracie Portice and husband, Shawn, Matthew Boyington, Amy Markie and husband, Chad, Adam Alexander and fiancee, Jessy, Seth Wilson and girlfriend, Kasse, Kyle Alexander; 8 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Dustin, Hunter, Hannah, Hayden, Tyler, Camden and Gavin; one great-great-grandson, Royce; and two very special friends, Grace Haskell and Connie Ireland.
She graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln and worked at J.J. Newberrys, as a cashier and then at Lincoln Pulp and Paper in various positions until she retired. She was known as a strong independent woman, who was a hard worker and had a passion for adventure, which was proven upon retirement when she put the camper on her truck and drove to Alaska by herself. She also had a beautiful smile and wonderful laugh that could fill the room and make anyone smile. She enjoyed many things in life, but the one thing she enjoyed most was spending time with family and friends. Whether it was sitting around a campfire, eating on the deck listening to the loons, shopping or just going for a ride and seeing where she would end up. Anyone that knew her could tell you that she lived each and every day to the fullest and she would not have had it any other way.
There will be a celebration of life Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. at the Lincoln Snowhound's Club.
