Carol's Story

BREWER - Carol (Hodgins) Lancaster, 79, died on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. She was born on November 12, 1934 in Brewer, Maine, the daughter of the late William and Vern (Knox) Hodgins. She was once married to Leigh Lancaster.

She attended school in Maine graduating in the class of '53 from the Maine-Central Institute School in Pittsfield. She worked as an EKG Supervisor for St. Joseph Hospital and also at the New Hampshire Welcome Center in Nashua.

Carol loved being very active. She enjoyed skiing at The Pinnacle in Maine and later at Crotched Mountain, golfing at Sebasticook Golf Courses, Ponemah Green, and bowling on the St. Joseph bowling league. In the 60's and 70's, she taught Sunday school at Pittsfield Congregational Church and later at the Pilgrim Church. Carol was also a youth advisor for NYARC, a youth group associated with Mt. Hope School and was actively involved in the annual Girl Scout Winter Carnival. Carol was a member of the Nashua Republican Party, serving as Ward 2 selectman. In the 80's and 90's, her enjoyment came from taking her granddaughters, Heather and Hilary, away on weekends to Stowe, VT or Laconia, NH. She also loved playing bridge, bingo, cribbage and scratch tickets.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Margo L. Tormey.

Along with her former husband Leigh Lancaster, Carol is also survived by daughter, Suzanne L. Towne and her husband Rick; her son Jeffrey L. Lancaster; grandchildren Heather T. Goddu and her husband Troy, Hilary Towne, and Gregory Lancaster; her brothers Ewart Hodgins and Royden Hodgins; sister Donna Graham; her great-grandchildren, Tucker K. Goddu, Ryder F. Goddu and Attica N. Goddu; her nieces and nephews, Eric Cianchette, Jane Linscott, Jon Cianchette, Ann Cianchette, Jean Bradshaw, Edward Hodgins, Patrick Hodgins, Michael Hodgins, Robin Hodgins, Judy Hodgins, "Twig" Graham, Margaret Barton, Jeanna Graham, Randy Leblanc, Barry Leblanc, Wendy Leblanc, Jonathan Lane, Jason Lane, and Julie Lane.

SERVICES: There are no visiting hours. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street, Nashua. Interment Prayers will be private.
