Bangor - Calvin 'Butch' Anson Stark, 65, passed away on April 28, 2017, at his home after a battle with Glioblastoma. He was born on June 26, 1951, in Albuquerque, NM, to Wendell Anson Stark and Mona Robertson (Goodwin).
Butch graduated from Northern Burlington County Regional High School in 1969 where he then went on to become an Air Force traffic controller from 1969 to 1973. He was married to Mary Ellen Kenney from 1974-1997 and who remained a close friend to him for the remainder of his life. He spent the last 20 years of his life with his fiancée and partner, Betty Sue Kimble.
He also worked as a career-foreman at Clewley Foundations from 1974-1990 and then on to St. Joseph's Hospital as an operating room technician from 1991 until his retirement in 2015. After retirement, Butch found a love and talent for woodworking; selling and giving many pieced to his friends and family. A few of his favorite pastimes included going to hard rock concerts with his buddies and having coffee with his work friends. Butch was fiercely loyal to the people that he loved most, his close friends and work family.
He was predeceased by his loving Aunt Verna and Uncle Lou Grzeskowiak, who were like parents to him. His beloved Boston Terrier, "Rocky" who besides, Betty, always called his best friend. A close friend, John West as well as his father, Wendell Stark.
Butch is survived by his mother Mona Robertson (Goodwin), fiancée Betty Sue Kimble, first wife Mary Ellen Kenney Smith and her husband, Daniel Smith, daughter Kristen Druan and husband Paul of Hampden, daughters; Jillian and Zoey. Son Joshua Stark and his wife Angela, of Brewerton, NY, and their daughters; Abigayle and Sienna. Brothers; Douglass Stark and his wife Rhonda, of Canaan and their children, Matt Stark and Heidi Sanders, Richard Stark and his wife Karen, of Hermon, their children Sarah West, Andrew Stark Kyle Stark, Nicole Woodard and Sean Stark. Half sister, Libby Butterfield and husband Joel, of Clifton, their children Zachary and Tanner.
Butch and Betty would like to mention and thank their many special friends Garrett Martin, David Branch, John Vanadia, Jamie Oldenburg, Chuck Rideout, Laurie True, Mandy Huff, Tracy Bennett, Mike Starks, Roz Poore, Mike Kenney, football player Logan Steward and the rest of the St. Joseph's hospital staff.
The family would also like to mention and thank the staff from St. Joseph Home Health and Hospice, especially Kevin Kenney who helped take excellent care of Butch in the last hours of his life.
Donations in Butch's honor may be made to the Cancer Care of Maine- Glioblastoma Research.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Smart Cemetery, Swanville, with Andrew Files presiding. A celebration of his life will follow the interment at Butch and Betty's home from 11:00-5:00 p.m. A second cemetery service planned with the placement of his headstone, tentatively in June, will be announced at a later date.
