JANESVILLE, WI - C. Henry Larson, MD, age 61, of Janesville, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, June 1, 2014. He was born in Menominee, Michigan, Sept. 15, 1952, the son of Clarence and Frances (Smith) Larson and was a 1970 graduate of Janesville Craig High School.
He received his B.S. in Biochemistry in 1974 and his Doctor of Medicine in 1978 both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Larson served his internship at Kaiser Foundation Hospital, San Francisco from 1979 to1980, his residency in otolaryngology at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston from 1980 to1983 and became board certified on October 25, 1983. Dr. Larson began practicing at the Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Glen Cove, Maine in 1983 and in 1985 he joined the Bangor Ear, Nose & Throat Professional Association, in Bangor, Maine. While in Bangor, Dr. Larson served as Chief of the Department of Otolaryngology at St. Joseph Hospital. In 2004 he joined the staff of Geisinger Medical Group in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and later the staff of United Medical Associates in Johnson City, New York, from 2007 to 2010. He retired in 2012 after a two-year term as a staff member at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Larson worked tirelessly at his profession and enjoyed sailing along the Maine coast on his boat Sleipnir and hiking in the Camden Hills. He will be remembered as an upstanding doctor, a loving father, and an honest friend.
He is survived by his children, Peter Larson of Florida, and Caroline Larson of London, United Kingdom; his mother, Frances Larson of Janesville, Wisconsin; siblings, John Larson of Chicago, Illinois, and Steven Larson of Colchester, Connecticut; and closest friend, Tizz Crowley of Auburn, Maine. He was predeceased by his father, Clarence Larson.
There will be a private family service in August in Maine.
