- Betty Estelle Martin, 93, resident of Ellsworth, Maine, died on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at her home in Ellsworth.
Betty was born in Lamoine on April 20, 1924, daughter of Charles Main Martin Sr. and Zelma Celia (Walker) Martin. She graduated from Hancock High School. She worked for many years in the local textile industry. She was also employed as a welder at the South Portland Shipyards and Bath Iron Works during World War II.
Betty is survived by nephew, Ellis Young and his daughter, Roberta Young, son, Donald Young of Ellsworth, nephew, Rusty Martin and wife, Roberta, and niece, Linda Gregory of Corinth, nephew, Darren Martin and his wife, Sheri of Hermon, ME, niece, Rita Weaver of Frankfort. Also survived by special friend, David Carter of Ellsworth and many more nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Main and Zelma Celia (Walker) Martin, five brothers, Alton Martin, Richard Martin, Morris Martin, Charles Martin Jr. and Donald Martin and a sister, Esther Bray.
There will be visitation and funeral service held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Chapel of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main Street, from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. and funeral service at 2 p.m.
Graveside services will follow at Hancock Corner Cemetery, Hancock.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Ark Animal Shelter. Arrangements entrusted to Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home.
