Bedford, NH and Eastport, ME Betty Louise (Lank) Gardner passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018, in Manchester, NH. She was born in Eastport, ME, on November 2, 1937, to the late Stanley Maxwell and Ruth Elizabeth (McCarthy) Lank.
Betty grew up in the village of Welshpool on Campobello Island, NB. She attended schools there and later the University of New Brunswick and Sir George Williams University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She later received her Masters of Education from the University of Maine. She taught elementary school in Pembroke, Robbinston, and Eastport. Betty enjoyed travelling, knitting, reading, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She particularly enjoyed several winters spent in Bonita Springs, FL after her retirement.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband, Robert (Bob). She is survived by her children, Gail Austin of Bedford, NH, Robert Gardner and his wife, Cindy, of Rockland, ME, and Shannon Curtis and her husband, Geoffrey, of Winchester, MA; grandchildren, Matthew Austin and his wife, Kristin, of Bedford, NH, Robert, Amanda and Ashley Gardner of Rockland, ME, and Austin, Caroline and Rhett Curtis of Winchester, MA; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Davis Austin of Bedford, NH.
Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 21 Key Street, Eastport, ME, or St. Anne's Anglican Church Memorial Fund, Campobello, NB.
