Benjamin's Story

Medway - Benjamin W. Cole, 90, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, at his home in Medway. He was born March 15, 1926, in Millinocket, the son of Merle and Kathleen (McLaughlin) Cole.
Benjamin grew up in Medway, and attended schools there. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps as a teenager and fought in World War II, where he saw action at Okinawa as a member of a heavy artillery crew. After his time in the service, he worked at Great Northern Paper Company as an electrician for many years before retiring. Benjamin loved to fish and hunt. His family meant the world to him and he will be remembered as a good provider and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved the Lord, and attended services at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God in East Millinocket.
Benjamin is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rebecca M. (York) Cole of Medway; four children, Virgil Cole and his significant other, Julie McLellan of East Millinocket, Gregory Cole and his wife, Megan of Millinocket, Timothy Cole and his wife, Katie of Medway, and Sara Cole of Medway; five grandchildren, Jeremy Cole, Danielle Dorion, Meredith Anderson, Amy Bean, and Samara Cole-Doyon; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor and Emily Cole, Sophia, Olivia, and Ava Anderson, Lydia Bean, and Nadia and Coen Cole-Doyon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Benjamin was predeceased by infant twins, Jean and Joanne; and siblings, Virgil Cole and Norma Bartlett, and stepfather, Raymond Porter.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, September 27 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, September 28 at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 2 Orchard Street, East Millinocket. Interment, with military honors, will be at the Grindstone Cemetery, Medway.
