Beatrice's Story

Text size

LAMBERT LAKE - Beatrice Mae (Nason) Kaine went home to be with her Lord and Savior, June 22, 2014, in Bangor. She was born June 1, 1932, in Columbia, the daughter of Delmar and Myrtle (Grant) Nason.

She grew up in Lambert Lake where she attended grade school, one year in Danforth High and graduated from Vanceboro in 1950 as salutatorian. She married the love of her life Howard Kaine of Vanceboro and lived in Lambert all of her married life.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1986. Beatrice was a hard worker and loving wife and mother. She took special care of her handicapped daughter, Cheryl, until Cheryl's death in 1972. She was an Avon representative for many years while raising her two daughters. She later became a home health aide and then went on to become the post mistress of Lambert Lake and retired after eighteen years of service to the town. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Lambert Lake for many years and most recently the Church of Christ in Houlton. She loved to go camping and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She bagged her first moose when she was in her early seventies and also appreciated God's creatures. She never let a stray animal go hungry, whether it was domestic or wild. There would always be food set out for the animals. She enjoyed playing bingo and made many friends and acquaintances over the years and would sometimes bring a friend a little gift, as she thought of others before herself. She was close to her sisters and one brother and loved each and every one of them dearly. She mothered all of her siblings as they had lost their own mother at an early age, but was always concerned for all of her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Hills and husband, Raymond of Orono; two grandchildren, Jennifer Drost, of Old Town and Ryan Hills, of Bangor; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Kristen, Josh, Jake, Grace, Gabriel, and Ethan; one great-great-grandbaby girl, Abby; sisters, Jessie Grass and husband, Earl, Ernestine Grass and husband, Elmont Jr., of Lambert Lake, Blanche McKinnon of Brookton, and brother, Delmar Nason; special friend, Sandra Lane of Island Falls; and a brother-in-law, Carl Fish of Waite; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Wanita Randall, Charlotte Fish, Helen Fish, and Priscilla Denning.

Friends may call from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Carl Bergman officiating. A luncheon reception will follow immediately after the funeral. Interment will be in Lambert Lake Cemetery. The family recognizes the special care and compassion that she received by both Stillwater Health Care and Beacon Hospice while she was a resident there. Those who wish may sign an online guest register and leave written condolences at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
