Dexter and Charleston
- Beatrice "Betty" Howard, 99, passed away peacefully at her nephew's residence (Barry and Mary Higgins) in Charleston on October 16, 2017, with loving family at her side. She was born January 10, 1918, in Bradford, to Eugene and Annie (Cunningham) Duran.
She was the oldest of three daughters. Betty graduated from Bradford High School and worked as a long-time clerk at Reny's Department Store in Dexter. She was a great seamstress, loved photography, her flowers, beano, the Red Sox and a good chuckle. She was a very pleasant person who was loved by all who knew her. She loved all her nieces and nephews and had many good friends. The family fondly remembers the family reunions, holidays and celebrations we all shared with her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ardel "Pud," in 1969; and by her sisters, Madeline Tasker and Margaret Higgins. Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Elaine Scott and John Gamble, Maxine and Frank Storozyszyn, Brian and Wendy Tasker, Cheryl "Sherry" and Ross Bradford, Carroll and Sharon Higgins, Barry and Mary Higgins; great-nieces and great-nephews, Mary Scott, Blaine Scott, Rhonda and Phil Graziosi, Keith and Missy Tasker, David and Danielle Tasker, Paige Tasker, Bradley and Katie Tasker, Synclaire Tasker, Kyle and Brittany Bradford, Brock and Shelby Bradford, Brett and Monica Bradford, Tracy and Steve Segenchuk, Scott and Linda Higgins, Amy and Mike Bishop, Barry "BJ" and Randa Higgins Jr. She was also survived by 26 great-great-nieces and nephews and she loved us all. She will be remembered by special friends, Shawna Doyle, Roberta Scott, Heather Wilcox, Wayne and Carla Bishop and Robert Cunningham.
Graveside committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sunshine Club, c/o Mrs. Nancy Baldwin, 59 Acadia St., Dexter, ME 04930. A service to celebrate Aunt Betty's life will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017, at the Charleston Community Center on the School Rd in Charleston.
