- Barbara Jean Thompson, 57, of Bucksport, died on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at her home with her devoted husband by her side. Born in Bangor on Feb. 14, 1959, she is the daughter of Charles and Leona (Stone) Clapper.
Barbara was devoted to her family and friends and was loved by many. She made friends where ever she went, including when she was working at Silveridge Farm, a place that was very special to her. She spent much of her time outdoors running, walking, hiking, fishing, and searching for treasures at the beach. She will be remembered as an excellent cook. She was a life-time member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bucksport and a member of Sub 5 Track Club. She dedicated many hours to the Bucksport school system as a substitute teacher and volunteer.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tom of Bucksport; 3 children, Sarah Blake and her husband, Bill, along with their 2 children, Sam and George, all of Richmond, TX, Jean Lamontanaro and her husband, Tom, along with their children, Luke and Mae, all of Castine, ME, and Beth Pushard and her husband, Rob, along with their daughter, Lena, all of Thatcham, England; her parents, Charles and Leona Clapper of Bucksport; 11 sisters and brothers, her husband's sister, along with many nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by one daughter, Gail, born sleeping; and her mother-in-law, JoAnn Thompson; and father-in-law, Robert Thompson.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, from 5-7 p.m. at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Friday Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bucksport, with the burial following at St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery. A gathering will be held following services at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church reception hall.
