Barb also worked in real estate, and continued her art painting in oils and watercolors.

Barb married Robert Eugene Mallonee of Wichita, KS on November 22, 1952. The marriage ended in divorce in 1981, but the relationship was sustained through a shared delight in their children's and grandchildren's lives until Bob's death in 2007.
