Barbara's Story

Text size

GUILFORD - On December 20, 2014, Barbara (Moulton) Blake, 81, passed peacefully from her earthly life into her heavenly life, surrounded by her family. She was born in Sangerville on November 28, 1933.

Barbara was a resident at Hibbard Nursing Home since December 2011. During her time there, Barbara always had a smile for everyone. Since her stroke, she continually displayed courage and perseverance, not once did she give up on her faith; she gave inspiration to so many. Barbara touched many lives and was a prayer warrior until the end. Throughout her life, she always showed small acts of kindness to everyone, whether it was a phone call, a visit, or taking baked goods to others. She loved her family and friends, savoring the time that she spent with them. Barbara was an active participant in her church and community. In her younger years, she could be found on the golf course - she achieved two "holes in one", and many club championships at Piscataquis Country Club. Playing bridge and "hand and foot" with friends and family was a favorite pastime.

The family appreciates the care and comfort that she received during her time at Hibbard Nursing Home. The staff became her extended family.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Thomas G. Blake; brothers, Lester Moulton, Jr., and Wayne Moulton; sisters, Gertrude Clukey Anderson, Winnifred Miles, and Dorothy Dulac. Barbara leaves her brothers, Russell and wife, Alice, Donald and wife, Bev, Roger and wife, Judy, Robert and wife, Kathleen, and Larry and wife, Linda; brother-in-law, Frederick Blake and wife, Marion of Temagami Ontario, Canada, along with their daughters and families; daughters, Pamela and husband, Tom Goulette of Guilford, Lindy and husband, Charles Gokas of Dexter, and Nancy Ellis of Sangerville; grandchildren, Blake Goulette and wife, Mary and their children, William and Nathaniel, Graham Goulette and wife, Jen and their children, Ava and Finnegan, Lindsay Goulette Hartwell and her husband, Luke and their children, Liana and Landon, Tara Gokas, Chaz Gokas and fiancée, Cheryl Webber; James Ellis, Emily Ellis, and Jonathan Ellis and wife, Jamie; many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be. He wrapped His arms around you, and whispered, "Come to me". He gave you rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. When we saw you sleeping so peaceful and free from pain, we could not wish you back.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10 A.M. at the Guilford United Methodist Church, with Pastors Reenie Cipullo and Ray Beless officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Cemetery in Guilford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Hibbard Nursing Home, Activity Fund, 1037 W. Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Guilford. For an online guest register, go to www.CrosbyNeal.com.
