Arnold's Story

MT. DESERT - Arnold Robert Krommenohl left us on April 27, 2016 to join his wife, Madeline.

She was the love of his life and had been married for 70 years. He was born March 31, 1919, in Concord, NH. His family moved to Haledon, NJ when he was a toddler. He was a metal smith by trade and before moving to Maine in 1968 had owned in a partnership Mark Metal Products in Patterson, NJ. He and Madeline owned and operated Blue Hill Greenhouses and he became later employed at Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor.

He joined the Navy in 1944 and served in Corpus Christi, Texas as an aviation metal smith.

He was a member and a Chaplin at the Blue Hill Odd fellows, Lodge. He was a member on the Town of Mt. Desert Warrant Committee and the MDI Housing Authority.

Arnold was an avid German stamp collector and was a member of the Union River Stamp Club and the German Philatelic Society for over 30 years.

His wife, Madeline, who passed away in 2010, predeceased him.

Arnold leaves behind four daughters, Linda Suter of Sun City, AZ, Kandice Krommenohl of Belleville, NJ, Anne (Mrs. William) Haynes of Bernard, ME, and Eve Young of Hulls Cove, ME; a son-in-law, Nathan Young of Bar Harbor; grandchildren, Nicholas Cirillo and Michael Cirillo of Sun City, AZ, Matthew and Karl Krommenohl of Bellville, NJ, William Haynes of Charlotte, NC, Jessica Haynes of Durham, NC, Christine (Mrs. Todd) MacArthur of Oakland, ME, Autumn (Mrs. Kyle) Staples of Trenton, ME, Britta Lovejoy of Sanford, ME. He also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren; a cousin, Arthur Zinn of New Port Richey, FL; and a special friend, Lynne Findlay of Verona Island, ME.

No service will be held and the family will later gather for a celebration of life.
