VAN BUREN - Armand Joseph Morrow, 91, died peacefully December 29, 2015, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born March 25, 1924, in Hamlin, the son of Joseph and Marie (Doucette) Morrow.

Armand was born and raised on the Morrow farm in Hamlin. He joined the Armed Services in 1943, and served two years completing training as an aviation cadet. He married Frances (Murphy) in 1947 and soon after they purchased the family farm and continued to grow potatoes for a brief period. As a young adult Armand owned several small planes and accumulated many captivating and humorous stories about flying in the local area. He and Frances landed one of his last planes in gale force winds near Baltimore trading it in for a new car. Armand worked most of his career at Loring Air Force Base in several roles, including preventive maintenance, real estate management, and maintenance supervisor at the Caswell radar site. A true handyman, he had a talent for creating custom tools when none existed to complete his home or farm projects. Armand, Frances and kids harvested trees from the farm used for lumber to construct the family camp at Long Lake. He served for a term as president of Van Buren Cove Club 17, and was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Besides numerous home projects, he enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, bowling and golfing. He also enjoyed visiting and card games with siblings in Van Buren or during summer trips to Connecticut and New Jersey. Frances and Armand hosted several large and memorable Morrow Family reunions at the farm.

He is survived by: two sons, Robert Morrow and his wife Patricia of Amelia Island, FL, and Leigh Morrow and his wife Patricia of Washburn; one daughter, Gail Fernald and her husband Bruce of Brewer; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Eric, Kate, Alex, Hannah, Hilary, and Caleb; five great grandchildren, Alison, Ethan, Gabriella, Megan, Frances and Addyson; two brothers, Albert Morrow and his wife Alice of Van Buren and Richard Morrow and his wife Robbie of Connecticut; and two sisters, Lorette Groote of Colorado and Cecile Morrow of Florida.

Besides his parents, Armand is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Frances (Murphy) Morrow in 2013, two brothers, Rene and Larry, and six sisters, Celia, Ann, Sandra, Rita, Aurora and Janet.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin.
