Jonesport - Ann McCollum, 88, joined her late husband Robert (Bob) McCollum in heaven on Saturday, July 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Ann was born in Medford, MA on March 13, 1929 to Charles and Mary (Geoghegan) Murphy. Her kind heart, beautiful auburn hair and unwavering resolve stole the heart of Bob at the age of 19. They soon married and started a wonderful loving family in Marblehead, MA. The memories and traditions Ann bestowed upon the world will live on through her six children: Mary Newhall, her husband Charlie of Mt. Pleasant SC; Charles, his wife Betty of Woburn, MA; Robert Jr. of Toronto, Ontario; Lu Ann Darrell of Tavernier, FL; Patricia Ann Vry, her husband Jean Jacques of Cary, NC; Douglas, his wife Diane of Bradford, MA and daughter in-law Linda (Baldwin) McCollum of Marblehead, MA.
She is also survived by her sister, Etta Donovan of Billerica MA; Charlie Murphy, his wife Phillie of Medford, MA, sister in-law Dorothy Murphy of North Falmouth, MA, sister in-law Betty Black of Jonesport; and brother-in-law Kirby McCollum, his wife Marilyn of Leonardtown, MD.
Known as Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were always ecstatic to find her at the kitchen table awaiting their arrival ready to whip up a meal or play a game of cards regardless of the hour. Her strong willed personality, dedication and love for her family will live on through her 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Jennifer Martin (Jacob and Tyler), Leanne Rose (Gannon and Amelia), Chad McCollum (Aiden and Lilliann) Michael Darrell (Wyatt and Camden), Amy Jordan (Damian, Jag, Meadow and Owen), Seth McCollum (Lana and Ava), Jacqueline Hewitt, Sean McCollum, Caroline Brucks (Evey), David McCollum, Nathalie Von Holle (Emma and Noah), Matthew McCollum and Kevin McCollum; and special friends Eleanor Kilton and Doug Stanhope. Although the world lost one of its most loving and caring people, the memories left behind will always brighten even the darkest day of any and all who knew her.
