Exeter, NH - Almira 'Peggy' L. Languette passed away September 2, 2017, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Peggy was born in Old Town, ME, on October 6, 1924, the daughter of the late Lynwood Rand and Ester Rand (Taylor). She attended school in Old Town, ME, and worked at Alco Packing in Winslow, ME, for 25 years as a shift line leader. Peggy married Arthur Languette in 1959.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband Arthur of 25 years, son Terrance Hughes Sr. of Oakland, ME, daughter Pamela Deraps of Waterville, ME, step-daughter Artherline Roberson, of WI, and sisters Barbara Walker of Milo, ME, Roberta Burr of South Portland, ME, Sally Chaisen of Milford, ME, and brother Lynwood Rand Jr. of Old Town, ME.
Peggy is survived by her son Roland Hughes II and wife Verna of Burnham, ME, their daughters Stephanie Buzzell and husband Garrett of Canaan, ME, Kathryn Hughes of Burnham, ME; son Herbert Hughes and wife Michelle, their children Logan Hughes and fiancée Meghan Callahan, Colby Senter and husband Steven, all of Exeter, NH; step-daughter Yevette Paquet of Winslow, ME, daughter-in-law Charlotte Hughes of Oakland, ME, and son-in-law Bill Robersen of WI; as well as sisters Cora Paradis or Orono, ME, Rita LeVasseur of Old Town, ME, and brothers Llewelyn Rand of Jasper, TX, and Retire Rand of Milo, ME; grandchildren Michael Deraps and wife Jennifer of Lynnfield, MA, Tracy Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA, Terrance Hughes Jr. and wife Kimberly of Rome, ME, and Bethany Welch of Winslow, ME, Joe Paquet and wife Linda of Windham, ME. Peggy felt blessed to have enjoyed time with her family and fifteen great-grandchildren (Alex, Andrew, Benjamin, Courtney, Eli, Emily, Garrett, Hailee, Josh, Lucas, Madilynn, Molly, Shari, Torryn, and Victoria), as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Once retired, Peggy enjoyed 25 years of volunteering at the Seton Campus of Maine General Hospital. She enjoyed many summertime days at camp with her family and extended family, she enjoyed her winters at Myrtle Beach, and later in Florida, with her son Terry and wife Charlotte.
Visiting hours will be Monday, September 11, 4-7 p.m. at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St. in Waterville, ME. A Chapel service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 10:00 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Chapel at 163 Mount Vernon Road in Augusta, ME.
The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Poplin (Hospice Care) in Fremont, NH, for the compassionate care Peggy received.
