- Allen W. (Bud) Costigan, son of Mae (Lambert) Costigan and Winfield S. Costigan, died April 1, 2017 at the home of his son Scott A. Costigan, in South Berwick, ME, surrounded by family. Allen graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1950. He spent four years in the Air Force as a radio tech. He served in White Sands, NM and then as a weather balloon telemetry tech on Grand Bahama Island for the early space program. Allen then went to work for New England Telephone & Telegraph. He worked in the craft and then became a Toll Test supervisor in Houlton, and Presque Isle, ME. He returned to the Bangor area to work as a supervisor where Allen retired in 1987 after 31 years of service. After retiring Allen and his wife Frances E. Costigan went on the road as full-time RV'ers. Allen and Frances returned to a state Allen loved, volunteering at the Elephant Butte State Park in New Mexico for 10 years. They jointly receiving the Volunteer of the Year award from the State of New Mexico. They continued to live the RV life style in Truth Or Consequences, NM. Two years ago when in their 80's they returned home to Maine, under the care of their son. Allen is survived by his wife of 61 years Frances E. Costigan, Son Scott A. Costigan, two granddaughters Ryleigh E. Costigan and Rhiannon G. Costigan, two sisters Ellen Perkins of Stillwater, Judy Shirk of Corinna, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Joan Coates of Bedford, TX, and brother David Costigan of Orrington, ME.
A celebration of life will be held at the Clifton Baptist Church, 744 Airline Rd., Clifton, on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 1-4 p.m.
