Albert's Story

SAFETY HARBOR, FLA. - Albert J. Lavoie, 71, of Safety Harbor, Fla., and formerly of Ashford, Conn., passed away peacefully of natural causes on Jan. 12, 2014. Born in Caswell, July 29,1942, he was the son of the late George and Emma (Michaud) Lavoie.

Albert "Bert" was the beloved husband 46 years of Gina M. (Maturano) Lavoie, devoted father of Albert II and his wife, Meredith Johnson of Beverly, Mass., and Anthony and his wife, Karen LeDuc of Ashford, Conn.; he was a loving brother to Joseph, and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Rita and his brothers, Edward, Ovide, James and William.

Bert worked for the Public Works Department in Vernon, Conn., for 27 years as a mechanic and foreman. In retirement he enjoyed serving as treasurer of the local home owner's association for which he received a service award for excellence, doing odd jobs for neighbors, and cheering for his beloved Boston Red Sox.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10th at St. Bernard's Church, 25 St. Bernard's Terrace, Rockville, CT 06066. Burial will follow in St Bernard's Cemetery, Rockville. A private reception will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Albert's memory to Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, FL or to St. Bernard's Church in Rockville, CT.
