BARING - Robert S. "Bob, Bumpy" Olsson, 76, died unexpectedly at 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at a Bangor hospital, with his family by his side. Bob was born April 23, 1937, in Freeport, son of the late Stanley A. and M. Shirley (King) Olsson.

He worked as a mason and brick layer and along with his wife, Evelyn, were owners and operators of the Sears catalog merchant store in Calais for 23 years.

He was a member of Masonic Alley Lodge No. 14 of Upper Mills, N.B., and Victoria Lodge No. 26 of St. Stephen, N.B., for more than 50 years. Bob was Cub Scout Master of troop No. 132 of Calais, Little League Red Sox coach, Pee Wee basketball coach, a member of the Baring School Board, and a Deacon of The Baring Baptist Church for many years. He was the oldest member of The Calais Rotary Club and served as Board Member of Eastern Maine Electric Co-op.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a daughter, Stephanie Elin; and his brother, Jerry and his wife, Ann. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Evelyn (Wallace) Olsson; sons, Dale and his wife, Alice, of Baring, Mark and wife, Angela, of Corinth, and Glenn and fiancée, Alice Ann, of Foreman, Ark.; grandchildren, Stephanie and husband, Steve Thompson, of Corina, Tiffany and husband, Coty Batten, of Orrington, Wayne and friend, Adrienne, of Ellsworth, Brittany and fiancé, Kenneth, of Gorham, and Kristin and Lauren of Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Hunter, Lauren, Benjamin, and Jaden; brothers-in-law, Lynn Wallace and wife, Marjorie, Coburn Wallace and wife, Norma, and Fred Wallace and wife, Linda, all of Crawford; several cousins, nephews, and nieces; and his church family at Baring Baptist Church.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Baring Baptist Church, Front Street, Baring. Burial will follow at Baring Cemetery.
