VEAZIE - Vilora A. "Sally" Jones, 85, wife of the late Freeland Jones for 58 years, died May 18, 2013. She was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Millinocket, daughter of Edward J. and Florence T. (Carr) LaPlante.

Vilora was proud to be a Maine group greeter for more than 20 years. She was a leader in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts for more than 10 years. Vilora was a member of the Parent-Teacher Association, served on the Veazie school board and was active in the town affairs. She a past matron of the order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Mccobb's Militia Company 18th Century Reenactment Company. Vilora was formerly active in All Souls Congregational Church and Veazie Congregational Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Freeland, Vilora was predeceased by two brothers, Bryant LaPlante and John "Dick" Laplante; and grandson, Richard Lawrence. Vilora is survived by five children, Karen L. Walker, Richard B. Jones, Timothy T. Jones, Steven W. Jones and Peter A. Jones; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert LaPlante; and several nephews and a niece.
